INNOVATION WEEK F.A.Q.

  • How much is registration for the event?
    Full Conference Pass: Student = $25 General Public = $150 Daily passes can be purchased at a reduced price, as well as FREE registration for the pitch competition. Daily Pass: Day 1 = $75 Day 2 = $75 Day 3 = $50 Pitch Competition Only = $0
  • What’s included in my full conference pass?
    The full conference pass covers all three (3) days of the conference (February 21-23, 2024) Programming including keynote presentations, innovation quests, and breakout sessions Food, drinks, and entertainment during the “Lasers & Blazers” Innovation Party on Thursday, February 22nd Continental breakfast, lunch, and beverage station (coffee, tea, water) each day.
  • Can I purchase my ticket onsite at the event?
    Space is limited so online registration is encouraged to reserve your spot. However, tickets will be available on site at the event (pending availability).
  • Is there a limit to how many members of my organization can attend Innovation Week 2024?
    No! Feel free to register as many members of your organization as you like.
  • Is there a virtual option to attend?
    No, Innovation Week 2024 is an in-person conference.
  • Where does Innovation Week take place?
    Innovation Week 2024 is held in Marquette, Michigan. The Innovation Week basecamp is Forest Roberts Theatre located on Northern Michigan University’s campus. Programming will take place around campus and the Marquette area, however, Day 1 (Feb. 21) and Day 2 (Feb. 22) will begin at Forest Roberts Theatre. Here is what you can expect to find at the Forest Roberts Theatre: Registration & Support Various programming including but not limited to: Continental breakfast (Wednesday, February 21st & Thursday, February 22nd)* Keynote Speakers Pitch Competition Closing reception (Friday, February 23st) *Continental breakfast on Friday, February 23rd will be available at the following locations: Jacobetti Complex (for Design Jam participants) Hedgcock (for 'Ask the Experts' participants)
  • Where do I park?
    Parking is available on Northern Michigan University’s campus. Please park in the Northern Center parking lot.
  • Where do I pick up my conference badge and welcome bag?
    Please head to the Innovation Week basecamp located at Forest Roberts Theatre on Northern Michigan University’s campus to pick up your conference badge and welcome bag.
  • What time do the doors open?
    Doors open each day at 8:00 am EST. The registration and help desk will be available starting at 8:00 am EST for conference attendees to pick up their conference badge and welcome bag. Continental breakfast will be available starting at 8:00 am EST. Programming will begin at 9:00 am EST.
  • What is the attire?
    We expect that the majority of attendees will wear business casual attire. However, we are firm believers in wearing what makes you feel comfortable, confident, and shows your personal style. You do you!
  • Where does the “Lasers & Blazers” Innovation Party take place?
    The Landmark Inn located at 230 N Front St, Marquette, MI 49855
  • Where can I learn about the keynote speakers?
    Please visit the conference website, innovation-week.org/speakers, to learn more about keynote speakers.
  • Which Innovation Quest will I go on?
    During registration, you will select your preferred Innovation Quest. The Innovation Quest schedule will be emailed to attendees a few days prior to the conference.
  • How do I apply for the Outdoor Innovation Pitch?
    Complete this application form and upload a pitch deck or executive summary. Pitch deck requirements and instructions on how to upload are provided within the form. The deadline to apply is 11:59 PM EST on Sunday, January 28, 2024.
  • What is the Design Jam?
    The Design Jam is a dynamic event where participants collaboratively tackle a specific problem for a targeted user group within a set timeframe. The event includes problem exploration, ideation, and prototyping, all aimed at bringing out the most practical and creative solutions.
  • When will the full schedule be available?
    Early February.
  • I’m interested in sponsoring, who can I contact?
    Innovation Week is seeking sponsors and partners at all levels. It's as simple as starting a conversation with our host committee. Email Denise Elizondo at delizond@nmu.edu for more info.
  • What organizations are hosting Innovation Week?

  • I need lodging. Where should I stay?
    The Landmark Inn is the official hotel of Innovation Week 2024. Please call 906-228-2580 to reserve your room at the conference rate of $129. Use code NMU INNO. Rooms are filling up so please book soon.
  • What is the expected weather? Is the event rain or shine?
    Innovation Week is a rain or shine event with the majority of programming taking place indoors. However, there will be periods of time that it is expected that you travel between buildings on campus and around the Marquette community. The weather in Marquette during February can be quite unpredictable. We advise all attendees to bring the proper outerwear and wear comfortable footwear.
  • Who should I contact with additional questions?
    During the event, please visit the Help Desk located in Forest Roberts Theatre. Leading up to the conference, please contact the host committee.
